Sports
In Sports, students gain knowledge and understanding of potential and kinetic energy as they collect and analyze data collected in investigations of speed, acceleration, velocity projectile motion and gravity. In Chapter 1, students apply their knowledge as they help a track team prepare for a meet. In Chapter 2, students become sports broadcasters, learning to write the "voice-overs" for a sports video of their choice. In the process, they integrate their knowledge of Newton's laws, forces, friction and momentum, and in Chapter 3, students learn about gravity, momentum, and air resistance in order to invent or modify a sport to be played on the Moon.
