| CHAPTER 1: THE TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIP: Scenario |
| |
High school students across the country compete in track and field events locally. Some of the best competitors go on to compete at the state or national levels. The world's largest such event is the Penn Relays, which includes competitors at the high school, college, and professional levels. Your school has been invited to send a team to the Penn Relays (or some other big competition). Everyone is excited and nervous about the event. The team has read that some professional athletes hire physicists and other science professionals to help them improve their performances. Your school's track team cannot afford professional physicists but hopes that students studying Active Physics may be able to provide some assistance. Can the Active Physics students use their understanding to help the track team improve its performance?
