BioComm™: Biology in a Community Context
BioComm is a National Science Foundation full-year
Biology course covering all core topics
BioComm covers far more than biology. It teaches how biology connects with Technology, Society, the Environment and the student.
In each of the eight thought-provoking units, a real-world issue is presented. Students conduct Guided Inquiries and Extended Inquiries. From their results, students interpret the information and apply their knowledge to the issues. Students will be working just like scientists and policy makers!
BioComm is more important for students than ever before. It is vital that students understand their impact on the environment and the impact the environment has on them. Benefits and Features:
- Provides integrated, hands-on activities and science readings in the student text with complete coverage of 170 key concepts in biology.
- Engages students of varying interests and learning levels.
- Students work collaboratively through Investigations that are hands-on inquiry for real-world problems.
- Correlates to National and State Standards in science.
- Reflects the process of scientific inquiry that guides students to do science with a seven-part instructional method.
