EarthComm

Introduction

Have you ever wondered if it would be possible for high school students to learn Earth science by doing Earth science... by actually working with the maps, the hammers, and the rock samples... by actually getting a tangible appreciation for the majestic quality of the Earth system?

Now, not only are students across the nation actually doing high school Earth science, but they are doing it with a program that has been created by the leading Earth science association on the planet, the American Geological Institute. As you can imagine, the results are tremendous.

With EarthComm:
Your students will learn the concepts and skills of Earth science.
Your students will understand the principles of Earth systems and their relationship with the community.

Your students will understand how human activities influence the Earth, and how the Earth systems directly and indirectly influence life on Earth.

EarthComm Solid Content

EarthComm is the first High School Earth Science program developed by Earth Science Experts that addresses the National Science Education Standards. It works well with both block and traditional schedules, and is designed so that it can be used in heterogeneous classes, providing access for all students.

EarthComm emphasizes important concepts, understandings, and abilities that all students can use to make wise decisions, think critically, and understand and appreciate the Earth systems: the atmosphere, the biosphere, geosphere and hydrosphere.

EarthComm offers five modules - each containing three stand-alone chapters connected to a common theme. Each chapter begins with a community-based problem or issue that can only be solved by developing key ideas and understandings in the chapter activities. You can mix and match the chapters to create exactly the right program for your needs.
