Implementing a new curriculum is challenging. That is why It's About Time has partnered with the American Geological Institute to provide a full range of professional development services. The sessions are designed to help you deepen your understanding of the content, pedagogy, and assessment strategies of Investigating Earth Systems. In addition, our Professional Development Department can adapt the program to suit the needs of your students, your local and state standards, and the curriculum frameworks.
Program Overviews
One to three-day introductory sessions that provide a complete overview of the content and pedagogy of the IES program, as well as hands-on experience with activities from specific modules. Program overviews are designed in consultation with school districts, counties, and SSI organizations.
Implementation Workshops
Two to five-day sessions held at your site that prepare you to implement the inquiry systems, and community-based approach to learning Earth Science featured in IES. These workshops can be tailored to serve the needs of your school district, with modules selected based on your local or state curricula and framework criteria.
Regional New-Teacher Summer Institutes
Two to five-day sessions that are designed to deepen your Earth Science content knowledge, and to prepare you to teach through inquiry. Guidance is provided in the use of appropriate materials and resources, and specific attention is directed to the assessment of student learning.
Leadership Institutes
Six-day summer sessions supported by the American Geological Institute that are designed to prepare current users for professional development leadership and mentoring within their districts or as consultants for It's About Time.
Follow-up Workshops
