Dr. William Berlinghoff, a Maine resident who summers in Montville, is one of four senior co-authors of MATH Connections, a new high school mathematics program that is now available nationally. MATH Connections shows how the mathematics that all high school students should know comes alive in the real world of people, business and everyday life. Developed through the Connecticut Business and Industry Association's Education Foundation under a $4.1 million grant from the National Science Foundation, this six-book series implements the standards of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and Maine's Learning Results for secondary mathematics. It has been successfully field-tested for five years in 15 high schools in several states, including Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School in Maine.
