Lee Meadows,
National Science Implementation Consultant
Dr. Meadows is an expert on implementing inquiry-based science. His
multiple roles
as a teacher educator, reform leader, and classroom teacher give him
a unique view
on how schools and teachers can successfully implement inquiry-based
programs.
Dr. Meadows holds a Ph.D. in science education from the University of Georgia, and is currently an Associate Professor in Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). He also directs Alabama LASER, a project focused on implementing inquiry-based science teaching in Alabama's school systems. His work with the national LASER network, including partnership with the D.C.-based National Science Resources Center, gives him expert insight on successful strategies for schools implementing inquiry-based programs.
He has extensive experience guiding the professional development of science teachers. His experience as a high school classroom teacher gives him a unique perspective in understanding of how to successfully teach inquiry. During his sabbatical from UAB he led the implementation of inquiry-based physical science at Spain Park High School in Hoover, Alabama.
