Investigating Lake Iluka
Grades 8-12
A simulated coastal lake
"It not only provides information, it facilitates a style of learning based on research and problem solving." - MacNews
The Learning Team specializes in serious content, solidly presented. The Lake Iluka program and its companion program, Exploring the Nardoo, are perfect examples.
An interactive multimedia tool, Lake Iluka captures students' imaginations while developing their critical thinking and problem solving skills. So much so that it has been called "Simply the best product in its category." (AIMIA)
Using video, graphics and sound to simulate a lake environment, students investigate ecosystems ... make physical, chemical, and biological measurements ... collect animal and plant life information ... view news footage and consult experts ... take electronic notes on their findings ... and even use the CD-ROM to put together a multimedia final report.
The Curriculum Guide provides you with lessons and assessments. The lessons do not always rely on use of the computer. Worksheets, lab activities, and field trips are all incorporated into the lessons. You will also find correlations to the Standards, and cross-curricula connections spanning Biology, Chemistry, and Physical Science. |

Gathering supporting content on wildlife is an essential part of the investigation process.

The Research Center is where your
investigations begin. It provides guidance and a robust collection of resources. |
